Representatives of the UEG met with the organisers of the 2017 Rhythmic Europeans in Budapest (HUN)
From 19 to 21 May, the Laszlo Papp Sports Arena in the Hungarian capital Budapest will host the first continental rhythmic gymnastics competition of the new Olympic cycle. Having organised the 2003 Rhythmic World Championships and the 2009 Rhythmic World Cup in the same venue, the Hungarian Gymnastics Federation and the Local Organising Committee have the experience to deliver a phenomenal event.
On Monday, representatives of the UEG met with the organisers to discuss the preparations, go through the plans and competition requirements, and develop the cooperation between all stakeholders. When visiting the Arena, 3D images of the competition area made it easy to visualise how the event will look like.
The President of the Hungarian Gymnastics Federation, Dr. Zoltan Magyar, and his RG counterpart Judit Körmendy-Ekes, join forces as the co-chairmen of the LOC. They have created an experienced team of professionals who will be assisted by more than 180 volunteers and 30 hostesses. The event motto -‘RG – experience – lifetime’- emphasises that Rhythmic Gymnastics is not just a sport, but that every moment is a unique experience, an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
After several meetings and visits to the training hall, competition venue and delegation hotel, the mood was optimistic, with preparation well under way. UEG General Director Kirsi Erofejeff-Engman noted: “The European Championship will be featured in May and the organisers already have a precise plan. Budapest provides a great venue for the Continental Championships.”
Save the date: 19 to 21 May 2017! See you in Budapest.
